Senate President Godswill Akpabio has officially commissioned key infrastructure projects in Lagos State on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently in the state for a scheduled working visit.
The projects unveiled include the Open-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge and the newly named Bola Ahmed Administrative Complex located in Alausa. Akpabio performed the commissioning alongside prominent figures such as Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Hope Uzodimma, and Tokunbo Abiru, among other dignitaries.
During the ceremony, Akpabio stated that he was acting on behalf of the President, declaring the projects open for public use. The development is part of a broader two-day visit by Tinubu, during which several major projects initiated by the Lagos State Government are expected to be inaugurated.
Earlier, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, disclosed that the President’s visit would feature the commissioning of several landmark projects. These include the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service building, the Multi-Agency Complex, the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, the Maracana Stadium, and the Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Abijo.
In preparation for the events, the Lagos State Government announced temporary traffic diversions across major routes. The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the measures were necessary to ensure public safety and smooth execution of the ceremonies.
Motorists were advised to avoid affected areas and use alternative routes during the scheduled commissioning periods. On Wednesday, traffic was impacted in Opebi, Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. due to the bridge inauguration. Similar disruptions are expected on Thursday, particularly around Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle, during the commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex.
The government urged residents to cooperate and plan their movements accordingly to minimize inconvenience.
