Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has cautioned that Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations semi final encounter against host nation Morocco will be a demanding contest, insisting that focus and discipline will be crucial to securing a place in the final.
Osimhen spoke after Nigeria’s impressive 2 0 victory over Algeria on Saturday, a result that booked the team a last four clash with the Atlas Lions.
According to the Napoli forward, the quality and experience within the Super Eagles squad give him confidence, but he stressed that the team must approach the game with humility and determination.
He said the players were taking the competition one match at a time, noting that Morocco’s home advantage and strong support would make the encounter far from straightforward.
Osimhen added that while the journey so far had been encouraging, the team remained focused on the bigger objective of lifting the continental title.
The 25 year old striker has been one of Nigeria’s standout performers at the tournament, scoring three goals so far, and will be hoping to increase his tally when the Super Eagles face Morocco on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Osimhen has also expressed appreciation to Nigerian supporters at home and abroad for their unwavering backing throughout the competition.
He described the quarter final victory over Algeria as a hard fought battle and credited the collective effort of the team for the result.
The forward assured fans that the squad was determined to maintain its momentum, remain united, and push strongly towards the final with the ultimate aim of winning the Africa Cup of Nations title for Nigeria.
