Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has lauded the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their commendable qualification for the round of 16 in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire. The minister conveyed his commendation on Tuesday in Abuja, expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance.
Following their 1-0 victory against Guinea-Bissau in Abidjan on Monday, the Super Eagles secured the second position in Group A, allowing them to advance to the round of 16. Senator Enoh extended his congratulations to the team, acknowledging their hard-fought win.
“Congratulations to the Super Eagles on your qualification to the next round of 16, having secured a win of 1-0 against Guinea-Bissau on Monday,” he stated. The minister exuded optimism, believing that the team possesses the necessary capabilities to progress further in the tournament and, ultimately, clinch the trophy.
Encouraging the Super Eagles to continue giving their best, play with enthusiasm, and bring home the trophy, Senator Enoh emphasized that their victory holds immense possibilities for Nigeria and its citizens. Notably, Nigeria concluded the group stage with two wins and a draw, amassing seven points from three matches and securing the second spot in Group A. The team is set to face the Group C runners-up in the second round, with the final positions in Group C yet to be determined.
