The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers less than 24 hours after the state government ordered the temporary closure of all boarding schools over rising insecurity.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje. According to the statement, the operation followed a complaint lodged on November 19, 2025, by a resident of a village in Song Local Government Area.
The complainant reported that on November 18, he received a phone call from an unknown number. The caller allegedly threatened to kidnap and kill him if he failed to provide a ransom of ₦2 million. Acting swiftly on the report, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Intelligence Department, Yola, to immediately investigate and track down the suspects.
Nguroje confirmed that the investigation led to the arrest of three young men identified as Ahmadu Alhaji Halilu (24), Adamu Buba Balejo (21), and Hassan Alhaji Liman, all residents of Malabu District in Fufore Local Government Area.
“During interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime,” the statement said. A SIM card allegedly used to issue the threat was recovered and has been kept as an exhibit.
The police assured residents that efforts were ongoing to strengthen security across the state, especially following the recent shutdown of schools. They urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence to support ongoing operations.
