The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Emmanuel Ado, has ordered the immediate deployment of police personnel to schools, critical infrastructure, and communities across the state to prevent abductions and other security threats.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Damaturu by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

According to the statement, Ado gave the order during a strategic security conference with sectional heads as part of the reform initiatives of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to tackle emerging security challenges.

Abdulkarim said the security meeting followed the recent closure of all boarding schools in the state by the government as a preventive measure against insurgency and kidnapping.

He disclosed that the Commissioner directed divisional police officers and tactical commanders to immediately deploy enhanced security measures around schools, public infrastructure, and residential communities across Yobe.

He added that the police boss also ordered increased patrols, strengthened visibility policing, night detachments, and rapid response operations to ensure quick intervention against threats of abduction, insurgency, and criminal activity.

The spokesman said the Commissioner further tasked officers to work closely with community leaders, vigilante groups, and neighbourhood watch organisations to promote inclusive policing and early detection of threats.

He stressed that the success of the operation would rely heavily on inter agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, and active community participation.

Abdulkarim reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly in and around school environments.

“The Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain law abiding, vigilant, and to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help sustain peace and stability across the state,” the statement added.
