The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on Friday confirmed that their military forces were responding to fresh attacks launched by Iran, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The development was disclosed early Friday through state media channels, with authorities in both countries reporting the interception of incoming threats.
In the UAE, the Dubai Media Office stated that explosions heard in parts of the country were the result of successful air defence interceptions. It added that no casualties had been recorded.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the country’s air defence systems were actively engaging missile and drone threats originating from Iran.
Similarly, in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported that multiple drones were intercepted and destroyed across several regions, preventing damage and casualties.
The latest attacks mark a further escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran and its adversaries. The war began in late February following coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel targeting Iranian leadership and strategic facilities.
The offensive reportedly resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader and several high-ranking officials, triggering a wave of retaliatory actions by Tehran.
Since then, Iran has launched a series of drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel and United States interests across the Middle East, raising concerns over a broader regional conflict.
Despite the intensity of the latest assaults, authorities in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia confirmed that their defence systems successfully neutralised the threats, maintaining security and preventing loss of life.
