Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been urged to sustain their support for President Bola Tinubu, as ongoing infrastructure projects across satellite towns continue to expand under his administration.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike made the appeal on Wednesday while addressing communities along the Bwari–Kubwa road during an inspection tour. He stated that the administration remains focused on delivering tangible development and improving living standards for residents across the territory.
According to Wike, the visible transformation in infrastructure is already influencing public perception. He argued that the scale of development being witnessed makes it increasingly difficult for opposition candidates to gain traction in the FCT.
The minister attributed growing support for the government to deliberate efforts to extend development beyond Abuja’s city centre to historically underserved satellite communities. He explained that the shift was in response to longstanding concerns about uneven distribution of infrastructure projects.
Wike noted that areas such as Karu, Apo-Karshi, and the Bwari–Kubwa corridor are now experiencing significant improvements, with many residents witnessing major road construction for the first time. He expressed satisfaction with both the pace and quality of ongoing projects.
He added that improved road networks are expected to ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and strengthen connectivity between satellite towns and the city centre. According to him, residents of communities like Kuje can now commute to central Abuja in significantly less time, reflecting the practical impact of the projects.
The minister also disclosed that several of the ongoing projects would be completed and commissioned to mark the anniversary of Tinubu’s administration.
Addressing concerns over real estate regulation in the FCT, Wike dismissed proposals for the creation of new regulatory agencies. He maintained that existing institutions, particularly the Department of Development Control, already possess the authority to enforce compliance with the Abuja Master Plan.
He emphasised that the priority should be strengthening current structures rather than expanding bureaucracy, noting that the FCT Administration is capable of addressing complaints and curbing malpractice among developers.
Wike assured residents that reported grievances would be handled appropriately and called for collective support toward national development, stressing that progress requires cooperation from all stakeholders.
