The battle in the Nigeria Premier Football League continued to heat up after Remo Stars, Shooting Stars Sports Club, and Enyimba F.C. all secured crucial wins in their latest league matches.
Defending champions Remo Stars boosted their campaign with a dramatic 2–1 victory over Nasarawa United at their home ground in Ikenne. The first half ended without goals, but Stanley Joseph eventually broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute to put the hosts ahead. Nasarawa United responded late in the game when Suleiman Dauda scored the equaliser in the 83rd minute. However, Remo Stars snatched the win when Michael Ibe scored the decisive goal just two minutes from time.Â
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars delivered an entertaining performance to edge Wikki Tourists F.C. 3–2 at the Lekan Salami Stadium. Sadiq Ibrahim opened the scoring early for the home side in the 16th minute before Wikki Tourists levelled through Abba Musa in the 35th minute. Lucky Emmanuel restored Shooting Stars’ lead shortly before halftime, setting the stage for a tense second half encounter.Â
Elsewhere, Enyimba also recorded an important win to maintain momentum in the league, strengthening their push up the NPFL table as the competition enters a decisive stage. The victories by the three clubs underline how tight and competitive the race has become as teams fight for league positions and possible continental qualification spots.Â
With several rounds still remaining, the NPFL title race and battle for top positions remain wide open, promising more intense fixtures as the season progresses.
