At least four people have lost their lives while several others sustained injuries in a road accident along the Lekki Epe Expressway in Lagos State. The Lekki Epe Expressway is a major transportation corridor connecting parts of Lagos Island with the rapidly developing Lekki Peninsula.

Emergency responders said the accident involved multiple vehicles and occurred during peak traffic hours when the road was heavily used by commuters.

Witnesses reported that the collision caused significant damage to vehicles and resulted in serious injuries for several passengers.

Road accidents remain a major public safety concern in many urban areas due to factors such as speeding reckless driving and mechanical failure.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to rescue victims and transport injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Traffic authorities temporarily restricted movement along parts of the expressway while rescue operations and investigations were conducted.

Road safety experts frequently emphasize the importance of responsible driving adherence to traffic regulations and regular vehicle maintenance.

Officials say continued public awareness campaigns are necessary to reduce the frequency of fatal road accidents.
