Katsina: NSCDC, Nigerian Army Reaffirm Commitment to Tackling Insecurity

The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Army have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the fight against insecurity in the state.

The Brigade Commander of the 17th Brigade Nigerian Army, Ishaya Ibrahim, made this known during a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Moriki, at the command headquarters in Katsina on Friday.

Speaking during the visit, Ibrahim highlighted the long-standing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC, noting that the partnership has played a significant role in addressing security challenges across the state.

He assured that the brigade under his leadership would further consolidate on the existing synergy between both agencies to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property in the state.

“The NSCDC and the Nigerian Army share a long history of partnership, and this relationship will be further strengthened during my tenure as the brigade commander,” Ibrahim said.

Responding, Moriki welcomed the new brigade commander to his office and to Katsina State, while commending the Nigerian Army for its continued efforts in combating terrorism and other forms of criminality across the country.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to sustaining strong cooperation with the military and other security agencies in tackling security challenges.

“The NSCDC will continue to collaborate and work closely with the Nigerian Army and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of citizens in the state,” Moriki stated.

In a related development, the state commandant also received the Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Joseph Ochogwu.

Moriki further hosted the State Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Abdulrashid Sule, as well as the Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Katsina Zonal Directorate, Chinedu Ozugha.

In their separate remarks, the officials emphasised the importance of strengthening existing cooperation between the NSCDC and their respective organisations in order to enhance security and maintain peace in the state.
