The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC has denied claims that former governor Nasir El Rufai suffered a nose bleeding incident while in custody. The ICPC is Nigeria’s anti corruption agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting public sector corruption.

In a statement, the commission described the allegations as false and misleading. It maintained that El Rufai was treated in accordance with legal procedures and that his rights were fully respected during questioning.

The agency clarified that medical assessments conducted during custody did not indicate any physical distress or injury. Officials said transparency remains central to the commission’s investigative process.

Legal analysts note that high profile investigations often attract public scrutiny and competing narratives. They emphasize that due process and clear communication are critical to maintaining institutional credibility.

Civil society organizations have urged both the commission and the former governor’s representatives to avoid inflammatory claims. They argue that misinformation can erode trust in investigative bodies and judicial proceedings.

The ICPC reiterated its commitment to professionalism and lawful conduct. It stressed that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Political observers say the development reflects heightened tensions surrounding corruption investigations. Maintaining public confidence in anti corruption agencies will depend on transparency, procedural fairness, and judicial independence.
