In a move aimed at improving educational resources in secondary schools, the alumni of Government Secondary School, Oko-Oba (Class of 1995), have donated educational materials worth N1 million to support their alma mater as well as neighboring schools in the region. This significant contribution comes as part of the alumni’s commitment to investing in the future of the younger generation.
The donation includes vital learning materials, ranging from textbooks, laboratory equipment, and digital tools, which are expected to enhance the overall learning experience. During the handover ceremony, which took place at the school premises, the alumni emphasized the need to continually support educational institutions that play a critical role in shaping future leaders.
“We believe that equipping these students with the necessary resources will not only improve their academic performance but will also encourage them to strive for excellence,” said Mr. Adewale Smith, the president of the Alumni Association (Class of 1995).
The beneficiary schools, including Government Secondary School, Oko-Oba, and Community High School, Ifako, expressed their appreciation for the timely support. The principals highlighted the pressing need for more materials, citing that limited resources have long affected students’ ability to reach their full potential.
The donation also included specialized materials for science and technology subjects, which the alumni association identified as key areas requiring urgent attention to meet the demands of the modern educational landscape.
This contribution by the Class of 1995 is expected to have a lasting impact, not only by improving the quality of education but also by encouraging other alumni groups to take similar initiatives in contributing to the development of their former schools.
