Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said the President would become the worst leader if he secures a second term in 2027.

Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during an interview on Political Paradigm aired on Channels Television on Tuesday.

He said he had not observed any improvement in the country’s situation since leaving his advisory role, adding that he had instead witnessed a worsening of national conditions.

According to him, insecurity has increased, while poverty and hardship have become more pronounced, particularly in Northern Nigeria. He also noted growing public frustration and desperation among citizens.

Baba-Ahmed further criticised what he described as the President’s strategy of consolidating political alliances ahead of the next election cycle, arguing that such an approach would not guarantee electoral success.

He said relying on political support rather than addressing governance challenges reflects poor strategic thinking and differs from the expectations many Nigerians previously held.

The former presidential adviser expressed concern about the country’s direction and urged leaders to focus on policies that improve security, reduce poverty, and restore public confidence in governance.

His comments come amid ongoing political discussions and early debates surrounding the 2027 general elections.
