The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that 18 vessels are currently discharging petroleum products and assorted cargoes at major ports in Lagos, including Apapa, Lekki, and Tin Can Island ports.
In a cargo status update released on Saturday, the authority disclosed that the vessels are offloading a wide range of commodities. These include bulk fertiliser, general cargo, bulk sugar, petrol, bulk urea, condensate, gypsum, and various containerised goods.
The NPA further revealed that an additional 46 vessels laden with petroleum products, food items, and other imported goods are expected to arrive at Lagos ports between Saturday and February 22. According to the authority, these incoming ships will deliver diverse consignments such as general cargo, bulk urea, wheat, empty containers, crude oil, refined petroleum products, gypsum, trucks, bulk gas, pallets, containerised goods, salt, and petrol.
The authority also noted that seven vessels have already arrived at the ports and are currently awaiting berthing approval. These ships are reportedly carrying cargoes including bulk urea, crude oil, diesel, aviation fuel, general merchandise, and petrol.
The NPA stated that the steady inflow of vessels and cargo reflects ongoing port activities and efforts to ensure efficient cargo handling and timely clearance at Nigeria’s busiest seaports. It reiterated its commitment to improving port operations, enhancing efficiency, and supporting smooth import and export processes across the country.
