Dangote Refinery has reduced its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) gantry price to N774 per litre from N799, marking a N25 decrease in what appears to be a strategic move to strengthen its competitive position against fuel importers.
The 650,000 barrels-per-day facility disclosed the adjustment in a notice issued on Tuesday. “This is to notify you of a change in our PMS gantry price from N799 per litre to N774 per litre,” the refinery stated.
However, the refinery also announced the conclusion of its petrol lifting bonus. According to the notice, the PMS lifting bonus ended at 12:00 a.m. on February 10, 2026. It added that credits for volumes loaded between February 2 and February 10, within previously communicated thresholds, would be reflected in marketers’ account statements.
Despite the price cut, Dangote’s gantry rate of N774 per litre remains above the average imported petrol landing cost, which stood at N721.80 per litre, according to data released last Friday by the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN).
Depot owners such as Eterna and MENJ are reportedly selling at N790 per litre ex-depot, based on figures from petroleumpriceng.com. Meanwhile, retail pump prices in Abuja currently range between N839 and N905 per litre.
The latest downward review follows a price hike in January 2026, when Dangote Refinery raised its gantry price from N699 to N799 per litre, a move that triggered a nationwide increase in pump prices.
The adjustment signals intensifying competition in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market, particularly between domestic refining output and imported fuel supply.
