Bandits launched a deadly attack on Kurfar Danya village in Bukkuyyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Friday, killing an elderly man and abducting six women, according to security sources. The incident, which also involved the burning of multiple homes, has left the local community in a state of shock and heightened fear over ongoing security threats in the region.
The victim, widely known in the village as Baba Kadago, was reportedly killed during the violent raid. The attackers, armed and organized, stormed the village, abducting six women and setting several houses ablaze, further compounding the trauma experienced by residents. The assault has raised serious concerns about the safety of rural communities in Zamfara State, where banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks have become increasingly common.
Security analyst Bakastine, who reported the attack on his X handle on Saturday, described the incident as a severe escalation of banditry in the area. “Yesterday, bandits attacked Kurfar Danya in Bukkuyyum LGA, Zamfara State. The attack reportedly resulted in the death of an elder known as Baba Kadago, abduction of six women, and the burning of multiple homes. The incident has left the community in shock,” he wrote.
Residents of Kurfar Danya are now grappling with the loss of a respected community member, the trauma of abductions, and the destruction of property. Local authorities and security forces are under pressure to respond swiftly to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of vulnerable populations in the region.
The attack is part of a broader pattern of insecurity in Zamfara State, where armed bandits frequently target rural communities for kidnapping and looting. The incident underscores the urgent need for strengthened security measures, increased patrolling, and proactive interventions by state and federal authorities to protect residents and restore a sense of safety in affected communities.
