The Ebonyi State Government has directed all ministries overseeing ongoing projects to ensure their completion within three months or face sanctions.
The directive was announced by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebeh, while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting. He explained that the decision followed a comprehensive review of projects across the state, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development and enhancing public service delivery.
According to Omebeh, key ministries including Works, Infrastructure, Environment, Commerce and Industry, Water Resources, Housing and Special Duties have been mandated to intensify supervision and execution efforts to meet the stipulated timeline.
He also disclosed that the Council approved the appointment and inauguration of two members of the State Civil Service Commission, a Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and a Secretary of the Rural Electrification Board. Governor Francis Nwifuru charged the new appointees to demonstrate dedication, professionalism and accountability in carrying out their responsibilities.
The Commissioner further stated that the Governor directed the Rural Electrification Board to prioritise electricity supply to rural communities. The move, he said, is part of broader efforts to reduce rural urban migration and stimulate economic activities at the grassroots level.
On civil service reforms, Omebeh noted that the newly inaugurated Civil Service Commission has been tasked with working closely with relevant stakeholders to reposition the state’s civil service for greater efficiency, productivity and improved service delivery.
