Turkish journalist Mustafa Karatas recently reported on X that Manchester United are interested in Besiktas midfielder Wilfried Ndidi, with a potential £12 million move reportedly on the table for this year.
Ndidi’s Form in Turkey
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a solid run in the Turkish Super Lig, delivering a string of consistent performances for Besiktas. This season, Ndidi has contributed one goal and one assist in 16 appearances across all competitions, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most reliable midfielders.
However, his contract with Besiktas runs until the summer of 2028, which may make it challenging for Manchester United to secure him at a bargain price.
Is Ndidi the Right Fit for United?
Ndidi excels at breaking up opposition play and recovering possession in defensive areas. Comfortable putting in robust challenges, he also possesses a strong passing range and can drive forward from midfield when needed. While primarily a defensive midfielder, he can operate in a box-to-box role, offering versatility to United’s setup.
Having already spent several seasons in the Premier League, Ndidi would likely adapt quickly to life at Old Trafford. His presence could add both quality and depth to Michael Carrick’s midfield, and he has the capability to compete for a regular starting spot.
At 29, Ndidi is in his prime, making him a strong short-term solution to United’s midfield concerns. That said, the Red Devils might also consider younger alternatives with longer-term potential for the squad if they are planning beyond this season.
