Workers in the Federal Capital Territory have called on the FCT Administration to urgently address mounting welfare concerns, citing rising living costs, delayed allowances, and deteriorating working conditions.

Labour representatives said many workers are struggling to cope with inflation driven expenses, particularly housing, transportation, and healthcare costs in Abuja. They warned that continued neglect of welfare issues could affect productivity and morale across key public service sectors.

The workers called for a review of salary structures, prompt payment of outstanding entitlements, and improved workplace safety measures. They also urged authorities to engage labour unions in constructive dialogue to prevent industrial unrest.

FCT officials acknowledged the concerns and said efforts were underway to review welfare policies within available resources. They appealed for patience while consultations and budgetary adjustments continue.

Analysts note that addressing worker welfare is critical for effective public administration, especially in the nation’s capital, where service delivery standards are closely scrutinised.
