Fuji musician Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, has again written to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, demanding the nullification of the nomination exercise for the next Awujale of Ijebuland over alleged violations of extant laws.
In a letter dated January 14, 2026, the musician, through his lawyer, Dr Wahab Shittu, urged the governor to declare the Fusengbuwa Ruling House nomination meeting held on January 12 null and void, citing alleged breaches of the Ogun State Obas and Chiefs Law, 2021.
Ayinde accused a faction within the ruling house of imposing a delegate system and physically excluding some eligible members from the nomination meeting, an action he described as unlawful and contrary to established procedures.
According to him, the death of the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, placed the responsibility of presenting candidates on the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. He said members were directed by the Ijebu Ode Local Government to convene a statutory meeting in line with customary and chieftaincy laws.
However, Ayinde alleged that the exercise was compromised at the designated venue in Ijebu Ode, where he and other members were prevented from gaining access. He further claimed that security operatives were deployed to restrict entry, while participation was limited to selected delegates issued special cards.
The musician, who holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, insisted that the process was procedurally defective and called for a fresh, inclusive nomination exercise.
Meanwhile, 95 contestants reportedly emerged from the disputed meeting, which was attended by local government officials as observers. The succession process has continued to generate public debate amid conflicting claims over eligibility.
