Governors Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa State have jointly reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Nigerian military and the families of fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.

The governors made this known during a regional security meeting where they praised the sacrifices of troops engaged in counterterrorism, anti banditry, and peacekeeping operations across the country. They acknowledged that while security agencies bear the frontline responsibility, state governments must provide welfare backing to ensure that the families of deceased officers are not abandoned.

According to the governors, their administrations have agreed to expand scholarship schemes for children of fallen officers, improve access to healthcare for bereaved families, and strengthen community based security partnerships. They stressed that national stability depends not only on weapons and strategies but also on morale, welfare, and public confidence in the armed forces.

Security analysts say the renewed commitment sends a strong signal of political unity at a time when Nigeria continues to battle multiple security challenges. They add that sustained support for military families could improve recruitment, dedication, and public trust in national defence institutions.
