Residents of Pindiga village in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State are in mourning following a deadly attack by unidentified gunmen that claimed the lives of two siblings and led to the abduction of four other residents. The incident occurred late at night when the attackers stormed the community, creating panic and chaos among residents who were largely unprepared for the sudden violence.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the attackers arrived under the cover of darkness and began firing sporadically as they moved through the village. Many residents fled their homes in fear, while others hid in nearby bushes to escape the onslaught. In the process, two siblings were fatally shot. Their deaths have sent shockwaves across the community, where family ties run deep and such violence is rare.

Local leaders described the incident as deeply troubling, noting that Pindiga had previously enjoyed relative peace compared to other areas affected by insecurity. Community elders said the attack has shaken confidence in local security arrangements and raised fears that criminal groups may be expanding their operations into previously calm areas.

The four abducted residents were reportedly taken away by the gunmen toward a nearby forest area. Families of the victims have appealed to security agencies to intensify rescue efforts, expressing concern for the safety and wellbeing of their loved ones. Many residents believe the abductors may demand ransom, a growing trend in rural communities across northern Nigeria.

Security agencies confirmed that they are aware of the attack and have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. A joint operation involving the police local vigilantes and other security formations has been deployed to track the attackers and rescue the abducted residents. Officials also assured the public that measures are being taken to prevent further attacks in the area.

The incident has once again brought attention to the worsening security situation in parts of northern Nigeria, where banditry kidnapping and armed violence continue to threaten lives and livelihoods. Civil society groups and residents alike are calling for stronger intelligence gathering improved rural security presence and faster emergency response to prevent future tragedies.
