The Governor of Abia State has broken his silence regarding his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu following intense speculation that the visit was linked either to the release of Nnamdi Kanu or a planned defection to the All Progressives Congress.
The governor stated that neither of the claims circulating on social media is accurate.
He explained that the meeting was strictly focused on issues of governance, federal support for infrastructural development in Abia, and ongoing economic reforms affecting states across the federation.
According to the governor, discussions with the President centred on securing increased federal collaboration in areas such as road rehabilitation, power distribution, and social welfare programmes for residents of Abia.
He added that the meeting was part of his responsibility as a state leader to seek solutions to challenges affecting the people and to improve the delivery of government services.
He dismissed the rumours about defection to the All Progressives Congress as baseless speculation driven by political opponents.
He also clarified that while the matter of Nnamdi Kanu remains a concern for many residents of the South East, it was not part of the agenda of his meeting with the President.
He stressed that any decision regarding Kanu lies exclusively within the jurisdiction of the federal judiciary and relevant security institutions.
The governor urged the public to avoid unnecessary interpretations of routine government engagements.
He said that partisan narratives around his visit have diverted attention from the real issues facing the state.
He reaffirmed his commitment to governance, transparency, and development, stating that political speculation will not distract him from his responsibilities.
