The spokesman for former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Timipre Sylva, has expressed concern over the continued detention of some of the ex-minister’s aides, describing the situation as unwarranted and unjust.
Speaking on Sunday, the spokesman said that the aides have been held for weeks without clear charges or due process, raising questions about the handling of the matter by the authorities.
He appealed to relevant security and judicial agencies to ensure the prompt release of the aides, stressing that prolonged detention without formal charges undermines the rule of law.
The spokesman added that Sylva’s team remains committed to cooperating with law enforcement agencies but urged adherence to legal procedures and protection of fundamental rights.
Details about the circumstances surrounding the detention of the aides remain scarce, and the authorities have yet to comment publicly on the matter.
