The Kogi State Government has assured residents that all victims abducted during the attack on a church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, will be rescued alive.
The assurance was given on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, following the abduction of the pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, his wife and some members of the congregation during a worship service.
Fanwo confirmed that security agencies in collaboration with local security outfits have intensified surveillance, patrols and intelligence operations across the affected areas in a bid to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims.
According to him, the state government has activated a full scale manhunt for the abductors, noting that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is personally coordinating the rescue operation.
He said the government remains resolute in its determination to ensure the safety of all citizens and will not relent until every abducted resident is brought back unharmed.
The commissioner urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, calling on members of the public to promptly report any suspicious movement or persons to security agencies.
He also advised churches and other worship centres located in remote and crime prone areas to exercise caution and consider temporary adjustments to their activities until the security situation is fully stabilised.
Fanwo assured the public that regular updates would be provided as security operations continue.
