Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has donated ₦5 million to support the medical treatment of popular online food vendor and Twitter personality Aunty Esther, who is battling breast cancer, according to Soccernet.ng.

The Galatasaray forward made the donation after seeing a distressing video of the elderly woman, whose real name is Esther Omolola Mensah, crying in pain and pleading for assistance.

The widely shared footage showed her lying on a hospital bed, struggling and revealing the area of her chest severely affected by cancer.

Aunty Esther, known for helping people shop for and deliver market items, had gained a loyal following on Twitter because of her reliability and warm character.

However, her illness forced her to pause her business in recent months, and her condition deteriorated, prompting fellow users to raise the alarm and begin mobilising support.

In recent days, good Samaritans arranged for her to be taken to hospital, where tests confirmed she would require extensive and costly treatment running into several millions of naira.

Her supporters opened a verified donation account, leading thousands of Nigerians to contribute whatever they could.

Massive public support grows as Victor Osimhen steps in

On Wednesday, the biggest contribution yet arrived when Osimhen transferred ₦5 million to the fund.

The 26-year-old’s act of kindness triggered an emotional reaction from the beneficiary, who publicly expressed her gratitude and prayed for blessings upon him and everyone who had supported her.

“Thank you uncle, Victor Osimhen. God bless u abundantly,” she wrote in a message posted on her Twitter account.

Osimhen’s gesture comes at a difficult point in his own season.

The striker watched from the sidelines on Tuesday night as Galatasaray lost 1–0 to Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League.

He missed the match due to injury, and his absence was obvious.

Osimhen has scored six goals in just three Champions League appearances, inspiring Galatasaray to consecutive victories over Liverpool, Bodo/Glimt, and Ajax.

His sharpness in attack was clearly missed as the Turkish champions struggled for rhythm against Union SG at RAMS Park.

The Nigerian forward is expected to return to full fitness ahead of Galatasaray’s derby against Fenerbahçe on 1 December.

Galatasaray currently top the table with 32 points, one point ahead of second-placed Fenerbahçe.
