The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Aiyedatiwa, has cautioned newly appointed aides to uphold integrity and avoid misusing public office for personal gain. The governor, speaking during a meeting with his latest appointees on Monday, emphasised that public service is a trust and not a platform for self-enrichment.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reminded the aides that their appointments are a call to serve the people with diligence, accountability, and transparency. He stressed that any deviation from these principles would attract severe consequences, including disciplinary action and possible prosecution under relevant laws.
“The people have placed their trust in you. Abuse of this trust is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the governor said. He further encouraged the aides to focus on policy implementation, development projects, and service delivery rather than personal interests.
The governor also highlighted the importance of ethical leadership and warned against engaging in corrupt practices, nepotism, or favoritism in government operations. He urged the aides to lead by example and inspire confidence in the state government’s commitment to good governance.
Officials in attendance assured Governor Aiyedatiwa of their readiness to work diligently and adhere strictly to the principles of accountability. They pledged to ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of the people and that the administration’s developmental agenda is fully implemented.
Governor Aiyedatiwa concluded by reminding all appointees that their legacy in public service will be measured not by personal wealth but by the positive impact they make in the lives of the citizens.
