The Nigerian Army has released the list of candidates shortlisted for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) Course 49/2026. The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Military Secretary (Army), confirming that the full shortlist is now accessible on the official recruitment portal: recruitment.army.mil.ng.
According to the statement, all shortlisted applicants are to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Ribadu Campus, Kaduna State, for the Selection Board exercise scheduled to begin on December 1, 2025. Candidates are advised to arrive in Kaduna by November 30, and must report to the venue between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on December 1. Anyone arriving after 11 a.m. will be automatically disqualified.
Candidates are required to present original and photocopies of academic and professional certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption documents, a valid birth certificate, certificate of state of origin, BVN printout, NIN slip, and fully completed SSC forms.
Additionally, applicants must come with writing materials, blue shorts, white T-shirts, white canvas shoes, bedding, toiletries, full-size colour photographs, and scratch cards to verify WAEC or NECO results. Parents or guardians must also submit a court-certified Letter of Consent, stating they will not seek compensation for injuries or death during the exercise.
The selection process will cover document screening, physical and medical examinations, academic evaluations, and oral interviews. The Army warned that any alteration on documents will void them and lead to disqualification.
Candidates will be housed and fed throughout the exercise but must arrange their transportation. Private vehicles and external visits are strictly prohibited. The Army emphasized that it will not be liable for injuries or fatalities recorded during the exercise.
