Suspected Boko Haram fighters have abducted 12 women and razed property in a fresh wave of attacks across two Borno communities. The women were seized in Mussa district, Askira-Uba Local Government Area, around 5 p.m. on Saturday while returning from their farmlands.

The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that investigators had already begun probing the abduction. “Twelve females were abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while returning from the farm. An investigation is ongoing, and details will be made public upon conclusion,” he said. He urged residents to remain calm as security efforts intensify.

Community members expressed deep concern over the women’s fate, noting that panic spread when the victims failed to return home. A resident, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said families immediately alerted community leaders, elected officials, and security operatives.

In a separate attack, suspected Boko Haram fighters invaded Magumeri Local Government Area early Sunday morning. The insurgents reportedly stormed the community around 1:15 a.m. on motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately before setting houses, shops, and vehicles ablaze during the over two-hour assault.

ASP Daso confirmed the destruction but said no lives were lost. He added that normalcy had been restored following the intervention of joint security forces.

Executive Chairman of Magumeri LGA, Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, said local security volunteers, including the Civilian JTF, hunters, and vigilantes, worked with troops to repel the attackers. He praised their swift response, noting that although properties were destroyed, lives were spared.
