New allegations have surfaced against Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuhu Usman, who is currently in custody following his involvement in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old musician in Effurun, Delta State.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed that the officer was arrested on April 28, 2026, over the killing of Oghenemine, also known as OG Millan. The incident reportedly occurred on April 26 during an operation by officers attached to the Effurun Area Command.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Mene Ogidi, was apprehended based on intelligence linking him to unlawful possession of a firearm. Authorities claimed he was caught attempting to transport a Beretta pistol with four rounds of ammunition.
However, a widely circulated video has raised serious concerns about the official narrative. The footage shows the victim restrained, pleading for his life and indicating willingness to cooperate with officers. Witness accounts further allege that his hands and legs were bound before the officer opened fire.
The Police Command has since admitted that the officer’s actions breached established procedures, including the rules governing the use of firearms. The Commissioner of Police in Delta State condemned the incident and confirmed that the officer has been transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary measures and prosecution.
In the wake of the incident, additional claims have emerged from members of the public detailing alleged past misconduct by the officer. Several individuals have accused him of abuse of power, harassment, and extortion during previous encounters.
One such allegation was shared on social media by a user identified as @djParis, who claimed she was assaulted and forced to pay ₦50,000 during an encounter with the officer in 2023. She alleged that the incident occurred during a traffic stop when she was ordered off a commercial motorcycle, physically assaulted, and subjected to threats and degrading remarks.
The growing number of allegations has intensified calls for a thorough and transparent investigation, with many urging authorities to ensure accountability and justice for both the deceased and others who claim to have been affected.
