The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he cannot be intimidated following a confrontation with military officers at a disputed land site in Gaduwa, Abuja.

The clash occurred at Plot 1946, reportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff. Wike, accompanied by FCT Police Commissioner Miller Dantawaye, arrived to enforce regulatory action after his officials were reportedly blocked by armed soldiers.

Speaking at the scene, Wike said: “I will not succumb to blackmail or intimidation. You cannot continue to act with impunity in this way.” He insisted the FCT Administration had no record of any valid allocation or building permit for the property.

The military officer involved, Lt. A.M. Yarima, claimed he was acting on orders from above and maintained that the land had valid documentation. Wike rejected the claim, emphasizing that all residents, regardless of rank or status, must comply with FCT laws.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about unauthorized land development in the capital and the involvement of military personnel in civil regulatory matters. Wike has reportedly engaged both FCT enforcement units and military leadership to resolve the issue.
