A senior naval officer, Commodore AM Yerima, has become the center of public attention after confronting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over an alleged land ownership dispute in Abuja.
According to reports, Yerima accused officials of the FCT Administration of attempting to seize a plot of land legally allocated to him. The naval officer, who is said to have presented authentic allocation documents, insisted that due process must be followed and that no one, regardless of political position, is above the law.
A viral video circulating on social media shows Yerima firmly standing his ground while addressing FCT officials who had arrived to enforce a demolition order on the disputed property. His composure and insistence on justice have sparked widespread praise from Nigerians, many of whom describe him as “a man of courage.”
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has not officially commented on the confrontation, but sources within the ministry claim the demolition was part of a broader effort to reclaim lands allegedly encroached upon by private developers.
The incident has since reignited national conversations about land allocation transparency, abuse of power, and the rule of law in the nation’s capital.
