Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has defended his social media activity, saying his posts are purely humorous and not meant to harm anyone. The 23-year-old Werder Bremen forward, known for sharing memes and cryptic captions, has come under increased scrutiny following his challenging start with Die Werderaner after a failed move to AC Milan.

Speaking in a clip shared by journalist Oma Akatugba, Boniface clarified that people often read too much meaning into his lighthearted posts: “Like I said, the media can put whatever they want to put — it’s on them. My post, my caption, doesn’t mean nothing. It doesn’t affect nobody,” he said. He stressed that being a professional footballer doesn’t mean he should stop having fun online: “If I come online and post and insult somebody, that’s different. But when I make a funny post, bro, we’re human beings — we’re professional players, but we’re not robots.” Boniface also noted that his social media style isn’t new: “I’ve been making these posts since I was in Norway. I didn’t insult nobody.” Despite criticism, Boniface maintains that his online persona is just part of his personality — unserious, expressive, and meant purely for laughter.
