Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric has addressed reports of a fallout with Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, following a heated exchange during La Dea’s recent clash against Marseille.
The 28-year-old Nigerian has endured a slow start to the 2025/26 campaign after missing pre-season while pushing for a transfer to Inter Milan. Tensions escalated when Juric substituted him for Yunus Musah, prompting an on-field confrontation in which the coach was seen pulling Lookman by the arm.
In apparent frustration, Lookman deleted all Atalanta-related posts from his Instagram and unfollowed the club, fuelling speculation of a possible January exit from Bergamo.
Speaking to Gazzetta.it, Juric downplayed the incident, describing it as a momentary reaction:
“He always works well; that reaction is something that can happen every now and then. Ademola is unusual — you get over it,” Juric said.

The Croatian coach suggested such moments can even strengthen bonds within the squad:
“Sometimes these incidents help improve relationships. He struggled, but he played a great game in Marseille, and I hope he continues to rise.”
Despite the drama, Juric maintained his focus on getting Atalanta back on track in Serie A, adding:
“We’re behind, and we need to do exceptional things. We can’t slow down any longer.”
