The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a new venue for its national convention scheduled to hold on Tuesday in Abuja.
In a post shared on its official handle on Monday, the party disclosed that the convention will now take place at the Rainbow Event Centre, located in the Garki Area 8 district of the Federal Capital Territory. The party noted that the facility offers a central and easily accessible location for delegates and stakeholders expected from across the country.
According to the ADC, the venue is situated behind the FCDA/AGIS building and is in close proximity to the Nigerian Television Authority headquarters in Area 11, making it convenient for attendees.
The announcement comes amid earlier uncertainty over securing a suitable venue for the convention less than 24 hours before the scheduled date. Kola Ologbondiyan, media aide to the embattled National Chairman of the party, David Mark, had raised concerns that the party was yet to finalise arrangements for a location.
Ologbondiyan stated that the party had applied to use the Eagle Square through the office of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, but received no response despite acknowledgment of the request. He also noted that attempts to secure alternative venues at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, including the Velodrome, were unsuccessful.
However, Wike dismissed the claims on Monday, saying no formal application had been brought to his attention. He maintained that Eagle Square is open to all organisations provided due process is followed and the necessary fees are paid.
The development resolves concerns over the convention logistics, as the party prepares to host delegates and key stakeholders from across Nigeria.
