The Supreme Court of Nigeria is set to hear an appeal filed by former Senate President and embattled National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, on Tuesday, April 14.

The appeal, marked SC/CV/180/2026, is between Mark and Nafiu-Bala Gombe, alongside four other respondents. The case also lists Rauf Aregbesola, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Ralph Nwosu among the parties in the legal dispute.

A hearing notice issued by the apex court and transmitted through its Litigation Department on Friday confirmed the scheduled date. The document was sighted in Abuja on Sunday.

Interestingly, the Supreme Court hearing coincides with a date earlier fixed for proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite.

Despite both matters being slated for the same day, indications suggest that the lower court may step down or adjourn its proceedings in deference to the Supreme Court, in line with the judicial hierarchy that places the apex court above all others.

Mark, as the appellant, is seeking judicial redress in the ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC. The respondents in the suit include key party stakeholders and institutions central to the dispute.

The outcome of the Supreme Court hearing is expected to play a decisive role in determining the direction of the crisis within the party, as well as clarifying issues surrounding its national leadership.
