Gateway Air is set to commence flight operations to key destinations across Nigeria beginning April 13, marking a significant step in enhancing domestic air connectivity.
The announcement was made by the Ogun State Government in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kayode Akinmade.
According to the statement, the state-owned carrier will operate scheduled flights on multiple routes, including Iperu–Abuja, Abuja–Port Harcourt, Abuja–Calabar, Abuja–Jos, and Iperu–Kano. The flights are expected to run four times weekly—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—providing consistent travel options for passengers.
The government noted that the airline is introducing competitive pricing, with one-way economy fares starting from N100,000. This, it said, is aimed at making air travel more accessible while supporting business and leisure movement across major Nigerian cities.
Describing the development as a milestone, Akinmade said the launch of Gateway Air’s operations reflects the administration’s commitment to improving regional accessibility and boosting economic activities through efficient transportation. He added that the initiative is part of broader efforts to position Ogun State as a key hub for investment and mobility.
Passengers have been advised to book flights early and monitor the airline’s official communication channels for updates on schedules and other travel information.
The commencement of operations is expected to ease travel across the listed routes and contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
