President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges, assuring citizens that the ongoing wave of insecurity will eventually come to an end.
Akpabio made this known on Sunday during his Easter message delivered at the Ikot Ekpene Field Major Convention of The Apostolic Church in Ikot Obong Edong, Akwa Ibom State. His remarks were later conveyed in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Anietie Ekong.
In his message, the Senate President acknowledged the pain and loss experienced by many Nigerians as a result of insecurity across the country. He paid tribute to members of the armed forces and other security personnel who have lost their lives while defending the nation.
He also recognised the suffering of civilians affected by violence, noting that many families have lost loved ones in homes, places of worship, markets, farms, and workplaces. Akpabio extended his condolences to those grieving, assuring them that their pain is shared by the entire nation.
Despite the challenges, he emphasised that the message of Easter represents hope, renewal, and victory. Drawing from the symbolism of Christ’s resurrection, Akpabio expressed confidence that Nigeria would ultimately triumph over insecurity, fear, and division.
He urged citizens to remain united and avoid actions that could deepen divisions, calling instead for compassion, solidarity, and renewed faith in the country’s future. According to him, the Easter season serves as a reminder that difficult periods are temporary and that hope can lead to positive change.
Also speaking at the event, the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Apostle E. O. Akpan, shared a similar message of hope. He encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer and unity, stressing that these values are essential for achieving lasting peace and national development.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of collective effort in addressing the country’s challenges, expressing confidence that with persistence and faith, Nigeria can overcome its current difficulties and move toward a more secure and prosperous future.
