President Bola Tinubu has expressed solidarity with the people of Plateau State following recent attacks, reaffirming his commitment to addressing insecurity and supporting affected families.
In a statement personally signed by the President, Tinubu conveyed his sympathy to families who lost loved ones in the violence. He said his visit to Jos was intended to offer comfort and demonstrate that the federal government remains determined to tackle the security challenges facing the state.
“I will be in Jos to support the families who have lost their loved ones and to show that those who try to create fear will not succeed,” Tinubu stated. “We will continue to enhance our security response and ensure that justice is served.”
The President also outlined his upcoming schedule, noting that after Plateau, he would proceed to Lagos to participate in Good Friday activities, before continuing with official engagements in other states. “I will go from Plateau to Lagos to take part in Good Friday activities, and then move on with my planned meetings in Ogun, Lagos, and Bayelsa, which will focus on infrastructure, trade, and economic growth,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of national unity, Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain resilient during challenging times while continuing efforts to build the country. “In times of sorrow, we must stand together. In moments of progress, we must keep building. The work continues. Nigeria First,” he said.
Analysts note that the President’s visit comes at a critical moment as Plateau State faces a series of security incidents, with residents and community leaders calling for stronger government action to prevent further loss of life. By visiting personally, Tinubu seeks to reassure the public that the government is attentive to the state’s challenges and committed to restoring peace.
The President’s message emphasized both compassion and resolve, signaling that while the government mourns with affected families, it will not waver in its efforts to uphold law and order, promote economic development, and strengthen national cohesion across Nigeria.
