The Olatunji Disu has ordered the deployment of Police Mobile Force units and additional tactical teams to Plateau State following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, on March 29, 2026. The assault left several residents dead and heightened security concerns across the state.

In response, the police chief condemned the attack and directed a “massive deployment of security assets” aimed at restoring calm, protecting vulnerable communities, and apprehending those responsible for the violence. According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the deployment includes additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force personnel, and intelligence operatives working alongside other security agencies to prevent further disruption of law and order.

The statement highlighted that the Inspector-General had previously dispatched the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Nadada, to Plateau State. His role is to assess the security situation, coordinate ongoing operations, and reinforce existing security arrangements in the affected areas.

Further measures include intensified operations through the deployment of additional mobile police units and security resources to tackle the ongoing security challenges. “These actions will continue until normal conditions return. All operational commanders have been instructed to ensure visible policing and engage actively with vulnerable communities,” the statement said.

The IG also expressed condolences to the Plateau State Government, residents of the state, and the families of victims affected by the Angwan Rukuba attack. He urged citizens to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.

“The IG calls on members of the public to stay vigilant, support ongoing operations by reporting suspicious activities promptly, and refrain from any acts that may undermine law and order,” the statement added.

The deployment of mobile police and tactical teams signals a robust response to the incident, underscoring the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives, maintaining peace, and ensuring security in Plateau State.
