Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed admiration for the resilience of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, stating that he remains strong in faith and unbroken in spirit despite the recent loss of his mother.
Atiku made this known in a post shared on his X platform on Saturday after leading a delegation on a condolence visit to El-Rufai at his residence in Abuja. The visit, according to him, was aimed at standing in solidarity with the former governor and his family following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
“I share with Mallam the deep pain of this loss, and we prayed for the repose of the soul of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai,” Atiku stated. He noted that, despite the emotional weight of the loss, El-Rufai displayed notable composure and strength.
“I was pleased to observe that Mallam remains strong in faith, his spirit unbroken, and he is not downcast. I encouraged him to remain steadfast, for this too shall pass,” he added.
In a separate development, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), also paid a condolence visit to El-Rufai. In a message shared via his X account, Malami extended his sympathies and offered prayers for the deceased.
“I extended my heartfelt sympathies and prayed Almighty Allah grants her eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Malami said. He further reaffirmed his support for the grieving family during this difficult period.
Additionally, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, was among other prominent political figures reported to have either visited or reached out to El-Rufai to convey their condolences.
The series of visits highlights the strong network of political allies rallying around El-Rufai in his time of grief. It also reflects the tradition of solidarity and support often demonstrated among Nigeria’s political class during moments of personal loss.
