The Federal Government has instructed civil servants operating within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja to work remotely on Friday, March 27, 2026, ahead of the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The directive is intended to facilitate security and logistical arrangements for the high-profile political event.

The instruction was issued through an official circular signed by Abdul Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, acting on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. The notice emphasized that several access routes around the Federal Secretariat Complex—covering Phases I, II, and III—will be closed from Friday, March 27, through Saturday, March 28, 2026.

“All Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, Agencies, and Offices located within the Federal Secretariat, Phases I, II, and III are hereby informed of the closure of all access roads leading to and around the said Federal Secretariat Complex from Friday, 27th to Saturday, 28th March 2026,” the circular read.

Authorities explained that the road closures are necessary due to activities scheduled at Eagle Square, the venue for the APC national convention. The circular further clarified: “This is due to the use of Eagle Square for the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party on the said dates.”

Consequently, employees whose offices fall within the affected areas have been directed to stay off-site for the day and perform their duties remotely. “Accordingly, all personnel whose offices are located within Phases I, II, and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are to work from home on Friday, 27th March 2026,” the notice added.

The circular also tasked heads of ministries, departments, and agencies with ensuring the directive is communicated to all staff and strictly observed. “All concerned Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies are kindly requested to bring the content of this Circular to the attention of their staff and ensure strict compliance,” it stated.

The move underscores the government’s efforts to manage traffic, security, and operational disruptions during major national events. It also reflects the proactive measures taken to ensure civil servants continue to perform their duties efficiently, even when physical presence at the workplace is temporarily constrained.
