Nollywood veteran Abiodun Ayoyinka, popularly known for his role as Papa Ajasco, has officially adopted a new stage name  “Bondu Alaska.”

The actor announced the change in a video shared on social media, where he introduced himself under the new identity and expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their support during recent controversies.

The rebranding follows a public dispute involving the ownership and usage rights of the Papa Ajasco character, which is tied to Wale Adenuga and his production company. Due to trademark and brand control issues, Ayoyinka is no longer able to freely use the well-known character name outside the original production.

As part of his transition, the actor has updated his social media presence to reflect the new name and encouraged fans and potential collaborators to connect with him under his rebranded identity.

Despite the move, reactions online have been mixed. While some supporters welcomed his fresh start, others expressed difficulty separating him from the iconic Papa Ajasco persona, which has remained a staple of Nigerian television for decades.

The rebrand marks a new chapter for the veteran entertainer as he attempts to redefine his career outside the legacy of one of Nigeria’s most recognisable comedy characters.
