Primate Elijah Ayodele has cautioned President Bola Tinubu over potential political betrayals ahead of the 2027 presidential election, warning that not all governors within the ruling party are fully loyal.
In a statement released on Sunday, the cleric said several governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) are not entirely committed to Tinubu’s political future. According to him, some of them are “one leg in and one leg out,” suggesting divided loyalties within the party.
Ayodele specifically pointed to key northern states where the President could face serious political resistance if proactive steps are not taken. He advised Tinubu to strengthen his political hold in these regions to avoid unexpected setbacks during the election.
Among the states mentioned was Kano State, where he said the President must work strategically to prevent betrayal. He also highlighted Kaduna State as a difficult terrain, noting that significant political effort would be required to secure victory there.
The cleric further identified Katsina State, Kebbi State, and Gombe State as areas where Tinubu may encounter internal party challenges and possible disloyalty.
In addition, Adamawa State was listed as another state where the President is likely to face political hurdles, with Ayodele warning of potential betrayal from within the ranks.
He emphasized that without “serious homework,” securing victories in these states would prove difficult for the President in the next election cycle.
