Social media commentator Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as Geh Geh, has argued that former presidential candidate Peter Obi lacks the political capacity to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election, even if the process is free and fair.
Geh Geh made the claim in a recent video that has generated widespread reactions across social media platforms. In the video, he based his argument on what he described as Obi’s weak political coordination and absence of a solid electoral structure ahead of 2027.
According to him, while Obi is widely admired by supporters as a visionary and principled leader, vision alone is insufficient to win a presidential election in Nigeria. He stressed that political success requires a clear roadmap, effective organisation, and a strong nationwide structure.
The commentator further argued that Obi’s political positioning remains unclear to many Nigerians, particularly regarding his party platform and grassroots strength. He said this uncertainty could significantly weaken Obi’s chances of mounting a serious challenge against an incumbent president with an established political machinery.
“Peter Obi can never beat Tinubu, and I’ll give four reasons,” Geh Geh said. “Number one, he does not have structure. Peter Obi does not have structure. He is a leader with vision, but he does not have a clear path on how to reach that vision. Many people up till now don’t even know the political party where Peter Obi belongs.”
He maintained that without a clearly defined political base, strong alliances, and coordinated grassroots mobilisation, Obi would struggle to translate popularity into electoral victory.
The remarks have since fueled fresh debate online, with supporters and critics of Obi expressing sharply divided opinions on his prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
