The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said that President Bola Tinubu has performed better than former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, but claimed that many Nigerians still dislike him.
Addressing journalists in Lagos on Sunday, Primate Ayodele said the president’s major challenge was not performance but public perception and internal opposition. According to him, although Tinubu has recorded notable achievements, those around him are not supportive of his ambition to seek a second term.
“Tinubu has done well for Nigerians, but the problem is that Nigerians hate him,” the cleric said. “The issue is nemesis. Tinubu’s problem is that those surrounding him don’t like him and they don’t want him for a second term. He has to wake up, restrategize, and focus on what to do. The agenda must change.”
Ayodele further argued that when compared with past administrations, Tinubu’s record shows improvement, stressing that the president may have even outperformed Jonathan in certain areas.
He cited infrastructure development, particularly road projects, as evidence of improved governance. According to him, recent travel experiences along the coastal road corridor have significantly reduced journey time.
“I passed through the coastal road, whether it’s genuine or counterfeit,” he said. “From that point, in four hours you will be in Calabar instead of 18 to 22 hours. If you are travelling around the Ajah area, it’s very fast. For that reason, Tinubu has done so well.”
Despite acknowledging these achievements, Primate Ayodele warned that without strategic adjustments and improved internal support, Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 presidential election could be threatened.
