Celebrity socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has announced that he intends to work against Labour Party’s Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.

The nightlife entrepreneur, who openly supported Obi during the 2023 general election, made his new political stance public via his Instagram page. His declaration followed mounting questions from followers regarding his perceived political shift and his recent association with the pro-Tinubu “City Boy Movement.”

During a heated exchange online, a follower directly asked whether he truly planned to oppose Obi in the next election cycle. Responding unequivocally, Cubana Chief Priest confirmed his position.

“Yes ooo hope say no be crime cuz I worked for Obi last election even as special adviser to an APC governor,” he wrote.

His statement immediately generated backlash, with critics referencing his past encounters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Some commenters implied that aligning with the current administration might be a strategic move to avoid future scrutiny.

Dismissing the criticism, the businessman downplayed concerns about his EFCC history, suggesting that interactions with the anti-graft agency are commonplace among prominent figures. “If you never go EFCC for Naija you never make am,” he remarked.

The exchange later shifted to discussions about the South-East’s political dynamics during the 2023 election. While some followers argued that Obi might have secured stronger regional backing from influential stakeholders, Cubana Chief Priest rejected the claim. He urged critics to support candidates of their choice and questioned what measurable development had resulted from such political loyalties in the region.

His comments have since fueled debate on social media, highlighting shifting political alliances and the evolving landscape ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
